2014 Summer Recap

Last week marked the end of our fifth full summer here at GOAT. Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing a lot of really fun and exciting stories from our summer program.

It’s constantly humbling to all of us at GOAT each time we pause and look around at how many of you support us financially and through prayer. Because of that, we were able to wrap up our summer serving 900 at-risk kids this year.

Isn’t that less than last summer?!

It is – and on purpose. When we sat down to debreif after last summer, we noticed that everyone was tired. People were checking out and some of our kids were getting less quality attention because of it. We could have certainly pushed forward and grown again this year, but to what end? One of the things we love about our supporters is that they trust us with their financial investment and they know that we’re still growing and shaping our organization.

We decided to spend this year focusing on quality of interactions instead of quantity. We wanted to spend more time with less kids. To create better experiences and build more lasting relationships. It was a summer of growth in just that way. We were able to focus better and be more energized for our kids and grow meaningful and lasting relationships from our experiences.

We’re still learning and understanding this crazy journey the Lord has placed us in – just like life. We’re so thrilled to have each of you along for the ride. Thanks so much for helping us change the world!

If you’re interested in helping us change the world, we would love to have you join us.
