Dollars and cents

As we enter the final quarter of the calendar (and fiscal for us) year, we find ourselves in a similar yet different situation as an organization. Our summer is by far the busiest part of the year and when we spend most of our financial resources. As non-profits typically look towards the fundraising-friendly fourth quarter, we do even more so. Our fourth quarter always begins in a position of “catch up” from our first nine months of programs.

This year we find ourselves in our strongest position ever entering the fourth quarter and have no concerns about closing out the year on a high note. We have an incredible group of donors and volunteers who surround us and our kids and keep us going (that’s you!).

This year we began to share our quarterly financials as a means of accountability, but also a way to share our ups and downs and help our donors and friends understand what our year looks like. It’s also something that people were just plain curious about! Today we posted our numbers from the third quarter and we’re more excited than ever. While our third quarter and YTD show a loss, we’re in a much strong position entering the final quarter of the year that we’ve ever been before.

We’re constantly amazed and thankful for the incredible people with whom the Lord as surrounded our organization and we would in no way be able to do the work we do without each of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

So while that bottom line number is currently a negative, we’re excited to see what’s in store for the rest of the year and our Christmas fundraiser that we’re firing up soon!
